The LG UltraGear evo GX9 39GX950B-B is worth considering if you want a wide gaming display and have the desk space and PC to suit it. With a used OLED monitor, panel condition matters as much as the specification.
Key facts
- 38.86-inch OLED screen, sold as a 39-inch class monitor.
- 5120 × 2160 resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio and 1500R curve.
- 165Hz at native resolution, with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support.
These model specifications are listed on LG’s UK product page. They do not establish the condition or contents of an individual used item.
Why buy it?
The wide screen can suit racing games, flight simulators and games that support an ultrawide view. It also gives you room to place windows side by side. Check how your favourite games handle 21:9 before buying: support varies.
Will it fit your setup?
Check your graphics card or laptop’s supported display modes, the monitor input you plan to use and the cable required. A high refresh-rate screen does not guarantee your PC will run demanding games at that rate and resolution. Console buyers should check supported modes rather than assume the full ultrawide picture will be used.
Measure your desk and viewing distance. Confirm the stand, its footprint and any mounting fittings with the seller. A large curved panel also needs suitable protection and space in your vehicle when collecting.
What to check before buying used
- OLED condition: ask to see plain backgrounds and normal content. Look for persistent logos, uneven colour, damaged pixels and scratches. Ask about previous use and OLED Care settings. LG says its care features help reduce image retention and burn-in risk; they are not proof that a used panel is free of either.
- Working condition: check the controls, the inputs you need and the display at your intended settings. The listing states “Owner confirmed at purchase: Grade A, fully tested and working.” That is the listing’s condition statement, not a new test carried out for this guide.
- Accessories: only a power cable is listed. Confirm the stand, mounting parts and signal cables before paying.
- Collection: this item is collection only, with delivery unavailable. Confirm the collection location, timing and packaging before ordering.
Is buying used worth it?
It can be, if the panel passes your checks, your setup supports it and the total cost makes sense against current alternatives. Allow for any missing accessories and collection costs. Grade A alone does not replace checking an OLED screen in use.
